We are excited to share the next piece of ARTogether’s leadership story.
To better support our growing mission and ensure the long-term health of our organization, ARTogether is transitioning to a Co-Executive Director leadership model. This shift reflects our core values of collaboration and collective care. This new structure has long been a goal of ARTogether and was championed by Leva as a vital step to ensure ARTogether remains resilient, sustainable, and impact-focused for years to come.
As the first step in this new chapter, our Board of Directors is thrilled to appoint Sarah McClean as Co-Executive Director, effective July 1, 2026.
Sarah joined ARTogether in 2022 as an intern while completing her degree at UC Berkeley. Prior to that, she ran a successful visual communications business for over 20 years. During her time with us, she has grown into one of ARTogether’s most essential leaders, building the organization’s public voice, deepening community and donor relationships, and expanding our presence across Oakland and the Bay Area. In 2025, Sarah was promoted to Communications and Public Affairs Director in recognition of her expanding leadership. She has been a steady, trusted presence through one of the most challenging periods in ARTogether’s history, and she has shown up for this community with consistency, care, and genuine love for this mission.
In this shared leadership model, Sarah will lead communications, community partnerships, advocacy, and individual giving. We are actively searching for a second Co-Executive Director to focus on operations, finance, and grants.
We believe this model positions ARTogether for its next chapter, one defined by resilience, shared accountability, and continued service to immigrant and refugee communities across the Bay Area.
Please join us in congratulating Sarah and celebrating this new chapter.
With gratitude,
The ARTogether Board of Directors and Executive Director
